Catalina Island activities offer something for everyone. From relaxing massages to adrenalin-pumping adventures, things to do on Catalina Island include a wealth of memory-making experiences for all ages. For many Catalina Island travelers, a vacation just wouldn’t be the same without playing a few rounds of golf. For decades, golf on Catalina Island has offered two options.

The Catalina Island Golf Course is the oldest operating golf course west of the Mississippi. The nine-hole course can be played with a different set of tees as an 18-hole course. Originally built by the Banning brothers in 1892, the course has hosted greats like Bobby Jones and Tiger Woods and is open to both residents and visitors. Rental carts and clubs are available at the Pro Shop.

Catalina Island’s other golf course has been a family favorite for generations. Nestled in a park-like setting in the middle of Avalon, the Miniature Golf Gardens is 18 holes of quirky fun, sure to please the young and the young-at-heart. For many families this playful course is a Catalina Island tradition, with kids, parents and grandparents returning again and again. The Miniature Golf Gardens is open daily, weather permitting.
