Things to do on Catalina Island include a wide variety of great dining, intriguing shopping and unique activities. This Southern California vacation destination also offers a number of things to do on Catalina with children. The beaches, whether in Avalon or Two Harbors, are an immediate draw and younger – and older – kids will love spending hours in the sand and the sea. Floats off South and Middle beaches provide a perfect way for kids to challenge their swimming skills and revel in jumping into the salty Pacific.
If the kids every tire of the ocean, there are several playgrounds around town as well as organized activities like beach bingo and a pier-based fishing derby. Parents of younger kids will also appreciate the indoor fun available at the Los Angeles County Library branch on Sumner Avenue. While sharing a good book is always available, puppets, music, magic and art are just some of the fun available at the weekly Summer Children’s Programs. Held weekly on Wednesdays (except for Thursday, July 21) at 3:30 p.m. the program attracts dozens of kids and their caregivers to the library patio.
The Avalon Branch of the Los Angeles County Library is located at 215 Sumner Avenue. For details visit their website.
