Catalina Island’s Complimentary Summer Concerts Are Back!
Catalina’s ongoing revitalization shines on. The island paradise will be rockin’ this summer with live concerts.
Hamilton-CoveAvalon, California (PRWEB) June 18, 2013: Catalina Island is abuzz with excitement about its fourth summer concert series, which opened Memorial Day weekend and continues through September 1. Avalon is the ‘happening place’ to be this summer for a sunny vacation mixed with live entertainment.
The Catalina Chamber of Commerce and Xceptional Music Company are presenting the free, family friendly Summer Concert Series next to the Bay on the Wrigley Plaza Stage. A beer and wine garden will be available at all concerts.
Again this year, Catalina Island Vacation Rentals (CIVR) and Catalina Island Real Estate (CIRE) are proud to be presenting sponsors.
“The concert series has become a major event for island visitors and local residents alike,” says Kevin Strege, President and CEO of CIVR and CIRE.
“It’s exciting to experience the festive atmosphere the concerts create, not unlike the Catalina of old.”
The Xceptional Music Company is producing nine acts with 70 musicians for the 2013 concert series. “Our outstanding musical talent represents all genres,” says Ray McKewon, President of The Xceptional Music Company. “The concerts include Country Rock, Classic Rock, Woodstock, MoTown, and Top Forty. Members of our bands have played with such greats as Johnny Cash, Ricky Skaggs, Kenny Loggins, the Jacksons, Don Henley, Chaka Khan, and more.”
Wayne Griffin, the Chamber’s President and CEO, says, “There’s nothing more fun than seeing families dancing together to the music of these quality bands. Our free concert series is one more reason to visit here this summer. It’s also our way of saying ‘Thank You’ to those who have chosen to visit our island destination,” adds Griffin.
Catalina Island has reinvented itself in recent years to make it more enticing for vacationers. A number of new activities and attractions are under development or near completion, such as a full-service day spa, new tours, the Bluewater Avalon restaurant, a Zip-line, and the renovation of the historic Atwater Arcade. “The entire Avalon community is invested in making sure Catalina Island continues as a top vacation destination,” says Griffin.
