Surrounded by Catalina Island’s rugged beauty and infused with its own Isthmus atmosphere, Two Harbors is a unique Southern California vacation destination. Located at the opposite end of the Island – known as the West End – from Avalon, Two Harbors is an adventurers’ paradise.
Thanks to the twin coves that give the area its name, things to do in Two Harbors on Catalina Island are focused on the water. Snorkeling and scuba diving provide endless opportunities to experience fascinating wildlife, including black seabass, sea lions and an array of fish species. A number of protected marine areas ensure that underwater explorers can discover diverse and healthy ecosystems. Air fills and gear rentals are both available at the Two Harbors Dive and Recreation Center.
Exploring above the water’s surface is another popular Two Harbors activity. Kayaks and paddleboards can be rented and the Catalina Island coastline provides a number of spectacular sites to explore.
Above the water, the island’s rugged terrain beckons mountain bikers and hikers with promises of challenging terrain, rewarding vistas and inspiring views. Two Harbors is home to nesting bald eagles and the iconic birds of prey are often seen soaring over the West End.
