Catalina Express ferry to Catalina Island

Each year, more than one million people visit Catalina Island. Entranced by the Island’s natural beauty and isolated appeal, these visitors discover a wonderland of dramatic vistas, quaint charms and myriad activities. The vast majority of those visitors arrive via a Catalina Island ferry, either aboard Catalina Express’s fleet of vessels or Catalina Passenger Services’ Newport Flyer. The two Catalina ferry companies serve hundreds of thousands of visitors each year as well as the approximately 4,000 people who live on Catalina Island.

Catalina Passenger Service, which operates one trip a day in the summer and a more restricted schedule the rest of the year, is frequently the choice for those who live in Newport Beach and parts of Southern Orange County. With up to 30 round-trips a day, Catalina Express is often the choice for Catalina Island transportation. Their boats to and from Long Beach and San Pedro regularly ferry Catalina Island regulars and residents – making their schedule something that frequent travelers know by heart.

This month, Catalina Express adjusted its schedule for the first time in many years. While the changes are minor – in most cases just 15 minutes or so, the change is something that regular travelers should be aware and adjust their travel plans accordingly.
